Criminal Court Cases in Taney County
The Taney County Circuit Clerk maintains state criminal case records for Missouri’s 46th Judicial Circuit. Circuit divisions hear felonies. Associate circuit divisions handle misdemeanors, assigned matters, and preliminary steps in felony cases. The clerk’s public counter is in the Judicial Facility at 266 Main Street in Forsyth. The main number is (417) 546-7230. This office is the source for filed pleadings, docket entries, judgments, copies, and certification.
Branson, Hollister, Forsyth, and other municipal divisions hear violations of their city codes. Those cases are part of the circuit court structure, but an ordinance violation is not a state misdemeanor. Court location and case type therefore matter. A Branson citation may remain in the Branson Municipal Division, while a state charge arising from the same encounter can move through a county division in Forsyth.

Reading a Taney County Case Number
An exact case number is the strongest search key. Current Taney County criminal numbers can use a form such as 26TA-CR..., while older records may show a legacy form such as 2646-CR.... The year, court location, case category, and sequence help distinguish one file from another. A warrant number on the county jail list may resemble a court case number, but the jail row is only a custody record.
Names are less exact. Search alternate spellings, former names, and a middle initial when known. Then verify the filing date, court, charge, and case status before treating the result as a match. A missing result does not prove that no arrest occurred. The prosecutor may not have filed a charge, the matter may be municipal, the record may be closed, or an older file may require help from the clerk.

Choose Taney County or the 46th Judicial Circuit when the control appears, and narrow the case type to criminal or traffic where useful. The portal gives docket and case data. It is not a Missouri rap sheet.

Taney County Court Copies and Certification
Remote access does not replace the clerk’s file. The docket may list a complaint, motion, order, or judgment without offering its image. Ask the Circuit Clerk for the page count, delivery choices, and whether certification is needed. The published clerk fee is $1 per page for plain copies and $1.50 for certification. Confirm the total before ordering a large file.
The clerk does not accept filings by email. That filing rule differs from a records inquiry. For a court record that Case.net does not show, provide the case number, party name, approximate filing year, and the exact document sought. Avoid asking for “everything” when a complaint, judgment, or docket sheet will answer the question.
The official fee page shows how Taney County prices court copies.
That fee schedule belongs to the Circuit Clerk and should not be confused with a sheriff incident-report charge.
What a Criminal Case File Contains
A Taney County criminal case file describes the prosecution, not just the arrest. The header identifies the case number, filing date, location, case type, status, judge, and assignment. Party and attorney entries identify the state, defendant, and counsel within public-display limits. Charge rows can show a description, statute, level, offense date, and disposition.
| Case Number & Court | The unique file key, court location, filing date, status, and judicial assignment. |
|---|---|
| Charging Document | The complaint, information, or indictment stating the filed allegations. |
| Docket Entries | A dated record of filings, warrants, appearances, motions, orders, pleas, and revocation activity. |
| Hearing Dates | The event date, time, type, and location when publicly available. |
| Disposition & Judgment | The outcome of each charge, including conviction, dismissal, or acquittal. |
| Sentence & Conditions | Confinement, probation, fines, costs, restitution, and related terms shown in the record. |
A charge at arrest can differ from the charge the Taney County Prosecuting Attorney files. A filed charge can also be amended or dismissed. Use the disposed charge and judgment for outcome analysis. The broader Taney County arrest search covers the separate report and booking layers.
How Taney County Charges Are Filed
Law enforcement sends reports to the Taney County Prosecuting Attorney. That office reviews the evidence and decides whether to file state charges. Its work can include complaints, bond hearings, preliminary proceedings, trial, and probation-revocation matters. A grand jury indictment is another charging route. The clerk opens the court file after a charging document reaches the court.
The prosecutor’s public office page provides useful context for the charging stage. It does not replace the docket.

Criminal Case Stages in Taney County
Not every arrest becomes a filed court case, and not every filed count ends in conviction. After arrest, a judge promptly reviews custody and bond. A prosecutor may file a complaint. A felony can then move through preliminary proceedings before an information or indictment, arraignment, motion practice, plea or trial, judgment, and sentence. Appeals or probation-revocation entries may extend the docket.
Case flow: Charges Filed › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
“Pending” means the case remains open. “Disposed” indicates the court recorded an outcome. A dismissal ends that charge without a conviction, while an acquittal is a not-guilty decision. These labels should not be collapsed into one result.
SIS and SES on Taney County Dockets
A suspended imposition of sentence, often shown as SIS, means the court does not impose a sentence while the person completes probation. Public-record consequences can change after successful completion. A suspended execution of sentence, or SES, means the court imposes a sentence but suspends its execution during probation. Both can produce later docket activity if supervision is revoked.
- Arraignment
- The hearing at which the charge is stated and a plea is taken.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a charge or case.
- Nolle prosequi
- The prosecutor’s decision not to continue a charge at that time.
- Docket entry
- A dated notation of a filing, hearing, order, or other case event.
When a Taney Docket Has No PDF
Missouri expanded public remote access under revised Court Operating Rule 2 in 2023. Even so, a visible docket line does not guarantee a downloadable image. Some documents are available only at the court, and confidential material stays protected. Case.net also offers “Track This Case” for public notifications, though the judiciary notes that some Fine Collection Center cases are not eligible.
If an older Taney County case is offline, contact the clerk instead of assuming that the file does not exist. Give a tight date range and exact identifiers. Ask whether the requested page is public, whether redaction is required, and whether a certified copy is available.
Access Rules for Case Records
Missouri Court Operating Rule 2 governs public access to court records and remote electronic access. It does not expose every item. Juvenile cases, sealed or expunged matters, full Social Security numbers, financial-account data, protected addresses, victim information, and confidential documents can be hidden or redacted.
The Missouri Sunshine Law does not override a court seal or a court-record rule. The right request goes to the office that keeps the source file. The clerk provides the court case. A police department or sheriff provides its own incident report. MSHP provides the statewide repository product.
