Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Browser name and version
- Referring website, when one is provided
- Operating system and device type
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the selected partner
- Find and repair technical faults
- Measure which pages serve visitors well
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable load times
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Taney County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to Taney County Sheriff Records, the 46th Judicial Circuit, the Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS Division, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a third-party dossier or consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices govern data submitted to those tools. Review the selected provider's terms before sending a query because this policy does not control its systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, Missouri Case.net, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read those rules before providing personal data.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Outside search partners that process a submitted query
- Advertising networks that serve page ads
- A government or law enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If such data is identified, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs access to public governmental records, while Mo. Rev. Stat. § 43.540 addresses dissemination of state criminal history information. Those laws do not turn this private reference site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data where the law provides that choice
- Ask what personal information we hold about the visitor
- Seek correction of inaccurate visitor information
- Opt out of processing where an applicable rule creates that right
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
